A Letter from the AD

Monroe Mustangs Athletics

A Letter from the Athletic Director

Dear Mustangs,

I would like to thank all of you for one the most amazing years an athletic director can experience. Your dedication, sacrifice, commitment to hard work in and out of competition, and the gracious manner in which you have represented Monroe College Athletics offer me a remarkable sense of pride. I am so proud of all of you.

I am extremely delighted by the camaraderie and cohesiveness shared across all of the sports programs. There is no greater satisfaction than to see fellow Mustangs support and inspire one another to succeed in their respective realms of competition.

Although we did not have the opportunity to conclude our spring seasons, I recognize that we would have been standing tall in May. Softball, men's and women's rugby, outdoor track and field, and baseball were projected to have their best seasons yet.

This winter, both men's and women's indoor track and field won National Championships in the 4x800 relays, and the men's and women's basketball programs earned a spot in their respective National Championships.

This past fall, the men's and women's cross country teams competed at the National Championship Meet, and the women placed seventh overall, the volleyball program competed in the National Championship as well, our football team earned an invite to the Salt City Bowl in Hutchinson, Kan., the women's soccer team finished National runner-up, and the men's soccer team won the National Championship!!!!

All these team accomplishments, along with an array of individual awards, including 74 student-athletes on the NJCAA All-Academic Team, are testaments that validate my efforts to continue working hard for you.

I am honored that you wear the Blue and Gold, I am honored that you're a Mustang!!!

Thank you!!!   Thank you all!!!

As we transition into the online environment to conclude the remainder of the semester, please be sure to log on to your blackboard on the days and times that your classes are normally in session.

Shall you experience any challenges with the online portal, please be sure to contact me immediately by email at lmelendez@monroecollege.edu

It is of utmost importance that we finish the semester strong for those of you moving on and for those of you scheduled to return. I will be working closely with our academic departments to ensure a smooth transition and a strong finish to the semester.

Go Mustangs!!!

Your Athletic Director,

Lou Melendez
